Mandibular advancement splint (MAS) therapy has evolved significantly, with growing evidence that
appliance design is a critical determinant of treatment outcomes in obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).
This session will examine the biomechanical and physiological principles underpinning appliance
design, highlighting how factors such as titration mechanics, retention, occlusal balance, and
material selection influence both therapeutic efficacy and patient adherence. Drawing on clinical
evidence and patient-reported outcome measures, we will explore the correlation between comfort,
compliance, and long-term success in MAS therapy.
